This is a great short video presentation about 8 old school SEO practices that are no longer effective.
The presenter from MOZ explains the following keypoints:
https://moz.com/blog/8-old-school-seo-practices-not-effective-whiteboard-friday

  1. Targetting multiple keywords seperated by multiple pipes into the title looks spammy, use sentences after main brand
  2. Heavy use of anchor-text on internal links, use it in the navigation, the footer or make it flow into the content and make sur it is relevant
  3. Using multiple pages for every keyword variant, make one page and add the keywords intelligently
  4. Using article links, article blast, press releases, comment links, selling links, private blog networks or any other networks, just say no
  5. Using multiple Micro-sites or sub-domain lowers the ranking, use one domain to have better authority over it
  6. Using multiple unbranded domain names like “handmadepipe.net” to point to your site, use your personnal brand only
  7. Using Cost-per-cliks or Adwords competition to rank for organic SEO results, just be honest with your keywords
  8. Using link bait with unrelevant content, use interesting data journalism instead

So in resume, keep it natural, don’t duplicate and don’t trick your public.
Peace out!
